This homemade hot cocoa is SO good; my 4 year old loves it! We made it recently as our “Fall Activity” of the day. It was sweet, rich, and oh-so-comforting. You can whip this up in no time!
10 oz. milk (raw, coconut, whatever you choose)
2 tbsp. raw cacao powder (this is the brand I use)
2 tbsp. honey or maple syrup
pinch of real salt (this is the brand I use)
2 drops essential oil (this is the brand I use; optional, not for children under 6)
Heat the first four ingredients in a small pot over low heat, whisking constantly. I chose to use raw milk share because I think it tastes the best, but you can use any variety you like.
Once the liquid is heated through and the powder is mixed in thoroughly, pour it into your favorite mug. If you need to break chunks of powder up, or you like it frothy, blend it first! I think it makes it extra special 😊. Allow the mug to cool for a minute before adding your essential oils: wild orange, peppermint, on guard (immune boosting effects!), cinnamon bark, or any other essential oil you enjoy the taste of! Enjoy.
Now, remember, I only trust one brand when taking essential oils internally. I suggest that you only add essential oils to your beverages if you are using dōTERRA, too!
